X13 Gen 3 AMD - PSREF says only one SSD fits, but there appears to be 2 NVME slots? A SATA M.2 2242 doesn't fit there.

Free dock available

Hi, I have dock and cable setup that i rescued from an e-waste drop-off box. Everything works, but I don't really need it. Also, using a single cable for charging & the display doesn't work since this is a USB B SS dock I guess.

Picture

-USB 3.0 Ultra Dock (40A8)

-90W Charger (ADLX90NCC2A)

-USB B SS to USB C 3.1

-USB B SS to USB A

If anyone wants it let me know and I will send it to you for just the cost of shipping.

X1C Gen 12 and Linux: Works great with Ubuntu 24.04!

Hey guys so I've struggled a lot with installing Ubuntu to my new ThinkPad, but it finally worked! I read in the subreddit that there are issues with Ubuntu 24.04 but it worked perfect for me. I was pretty worried since this is my first time using/installing a Linux system. Wanted to share what happened so some beginners (like me) can benefit.

ThinkPad X1 Carbon, Gen 12

Intel 155U
14" IPS, Non-Touch
Default built (non-haptic)
32 RAM / 512 SSD

Ubuntu 22.04 LTS

First tried this as it's the "certified" version for the X1C Gen12 on the Ubuntu website. Lot's of errors:

WiFi and TrackPad worked during installation.
Weird error messages during booting. Didn't cause any apparent issues (?) but don't know if they would in the future.
Booted with very low resolution a few times. Reboot seems to solve it (?)
Screen brightness not working. Can't adjust resolution in the settings.
External display not detected (HDMI).
I suspected the above two are due to Intel GPU driver not being installed. I checked the settings, it shows the graphics as "lvmpipe" or something, instead of Intel. So tried to install graphics drivers; no luck. Tried couple of things I see on Intel website, Ubuntu forums etc. and none of them worked. Probably this is my fault as I don't know what I'm doing.
Finally gave up...

Ubuntu 24.0 LTS

Everything seems to work with the default installation! Connected to WiFi during installation so I suspect it updated the drivers automatically. I didn't perform
any manual updates after the installation.

Here are what I have tested so far and confirmed working:

WiFi / Bluetooth
Screen brightness, resolution etc.
TrackPad and TrackPoint.
Camera / mic
External monitor (via HDMI). I'll try USB-C tomorrow and update here.

TLDR; X1C Gen 12 works just fine with Ubuntu 24.04 LTS default installation.
